Stephen Schafer (AKA: Schaf) is an architectural photographer with experience lighting complex interiors and capturing glowing exteriors at twilight. He has special expertise with historic architecture including HABS, HAER and HALS photography of historic structures and National Register Nominations.

He established his thriving commercial photography studio in 1987, producing architectural and corporate photography for magazines, web sites, annual reports, brochures, books and documentary surveys. Schaf's distinguished client list includes Disney, Kinko's, McDonalds, PG&E, NASA, PG&E, SCE, 3M, Procter & Gamble, Technicolor, California State University, and Pepperdine University.

Schaf has completed documentary building inventories and surveys for redevelopment agencies, architectural conservancies and cities. These specialized projects still require large format 5x7 film cameras and darkroom processing adhering to National Park Service standards for architectural and engineering documentation.

His photography has taken him through 20 countries worldwide and to most of the United States, but he also regularly teaches technical lighting and infrared photography workshops in Venice, California.
